Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards is attempting to clear the air after a woman accused him of getting her pregnant and then offering her $100,000 to get an abortion.
Paige Jordae, an Instagram and OnlyFans model, shared alleged text messages between her and Edwards on her Instagram Stories where she told him she was expecting a baby.
His response: “Get a abortion lol.”
Since the alleged messages were leaked, Edwards issued a statement admitting his comments were made “in the heat of a moment” and would be handling the situation “privately” going forward.
“I made comments in the heat of a moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man,” Edwards wrote in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them,” he continued.
“I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time.”
In screenshots of the alleged texts, Jordae shares an image of positive pregnancy test to which Edwards replies, “Hell Naw can’t do dis” and “Get a abortion lol.”
She goes on to say that she previously had an abortion and doesn’t want to get another one.
“I will send you money to help you out,” he writes, adding, “I don’t want kids. Let’s handle this like grownups.”
Jordae explains, “I’m not trying to force u to be a dad to a baby u don’t want, I just don’t like abortions, that doesn’t make me wrong.”
She adds: “If u really don’t wanna do this then fine… I won’t.
Edwards, who has been in a long-term relationship with Jeanine Robel, shoots back, “Just take the pills.”
Another screenshot shows a pending wire transfer of $100,000 on Nov. 27, 2023, though the photo doesn’t clearly show who sent it and who it was sent to.
The model has since posted new messages on her Instagram Stories, thanking those who have reached out and checked in on her.
“Never ever put me in a position where I gotta show you how cruel and ruthless I can be,” she added in another post.
“Don’t test my patience because I might be the kindest and sweetest person that you’ve ever met but once I reach my limit, you’ll see me do the things that no one thought I’m capable of doing.”
Edwards, who averages 24.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.1 assists for Minnesota, signed a five-year, $260-million max contract extension with the team in July.
The Timberwolves have not made a statement addressing Edwards’ situation.
