The Maple Leafs’ opening-day roster is set.
Forward Noah Gregor, who arrived in camp on a professional tryout, signed a one-year, $775,000 US contract on Tuesday.
“Noah came in on a PTO, he did everything he is supposed to do to grab a spot,” Leafs general manager Brad Treliving said. “He earned a job.”
The Leafs play their 2023-24 regular-season opener on Wednesday at home against the Montreal Canadiens.
Before he signed, Gregor was not listed on the official roster released on Tuesday morning by the National Hockey League. Easton Cowan, the Leafs’ first-round pick in 2023, was on the roster, but was going to be returned to the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League on Tuesday, Treliving said.
Also, the Leafs placed winger Bobby McMann on waivers on Tuesday.
