A lot of people were wondering if they needed to get their ears checked on Wednesday night after the Raptors were introduced to the crowd.
When rookie Gradey Dick became just the third teenaged player to make a start for the Raptors, joining future Hall of Famers Tracy McGrady and Chris Bosh, in-arena host Mark Strong — better known as Strizzy — added a catchphrase as he does for every Raptors starter.

It sure sounded like he said “Wearing Number 1, Mr. Big Dick Energy,” which are lyrics from the popular track Big Energy by Latto and that assumption went viral on social media and sites like TMZ, creating quite the buzz, as well as shock.

However, it turns out the edited lyrics to the clean version of the song were in fact used, as they have been at times in games where Dick has made a shot.
It was actually announced as: “Mr. Big Big Energy,” the Raptors confirmed to TMZ on Thursday.
Which makes a lot more sense.
Dick, the Gatorade Player of the Year after his season at Kansas, was the 13th pick by the Raptors at the 2023 NBA Draft. He has said he’s used to all kinds of heckling and isn’t bothered by it.
